Drummond gets sweep at Dover

Drummond finally was able to slow down the Harviston twins.

It proved enough to get the win.

Dover was outscored 10-4 in the fourth quarter last Friday to drop a 38-34 decision to Drummond in the Lady Longhorns’ home opener.

Katelyn and Karlee Harviston combined for 28 of Dover’s points through three quarters.

That included nine from Karlee in the third quarter when the Lady Longhorns used an 11-5 run to take a 30-28 lead.

However, Katelyn’s free throw in the fourth was the only point the two could muster as Drummond made its comeback.

Karlee finished the game with 16 points and Katelyn 13.

The rest of the Lady Longhorns combined for five points.

Rylee Buck battled foul trouble for much of the game.

She and Ashley Gamez both fouled out late.

Gamez scored Dover’s only field goal in the fourth, a 3-pointer.

Drummond had just two fourth-quarter field goals, but went 6 of 7 from the foul line.

The Lady Bulldogs were led by Cambree Kirchner’s 15 points.

Caitlin Busch added seven points as Drummond moved to 3-1. Its only loss was to Lomega.

The defeated dropped Dover to 2-2.

The team was off Tuesday before returning home Friday to host Gracemont.

Bulldogs win big

Dominant first and third quarters Friday allowed Drummond to complete the sweep at Dover.

The Bulldogs outscored Dover by 24 points in those frames en route to a 74-44 road win.

Drummond used a balanced scoring attack to jump on Dover 20-8 in the first quarter.

Three different Bulldogs scored at least five points and combined for 17 in that quarter.

That same trio - Colten Dillingham, Aiden Jackson and Blake Allen - struck again in the third.

They combined for 17 again as Drummond extended its lead with a 24-12 spurt.

Dillingham eventually finished with 21 to lead all scorers. Jackson scored 14 and Allen 10 as Drummond improved to 3-1.

Dover was led by Kolten Shaw’s 15 points.

Pedro Valles and Carlos Flores scored nine apiece as the Longhorns saw their record drop to 2-2.
