Strong middle round helps Cashion land 4th at 2A golf
Sluggish opening and closing rounds saw the Cashion boys golf team take fourth place at the Class 2A state tournament.
The Wildcat contingent shot an opening-round 355 Monday at the Buffalo Rock Golf Course in Cushing.
The improvement was substantial in the second 18 of the day as the Wildcats closed with a 329.
That pushed them from sixth to fourth place entering the final day where they again fired a 355. Cashion’s three-round total was 1,039.

Latta won the state title with a 949.
Nowata was runner-up with 1,014 and Turpin third with a 1,023.
Tishomingo was three strokes behind Cashion.
Camden Maroney was the 19th best individual with a 251.
He shot rounds of 85, 77 and 89.
Holten Aaron and Max Brown tied for 22nd at 258.
Aaron opened with a 92 and followed with a pair of 83s.
Brown shot 89, 82 and 87.
Ashton Moore’s 89, 87 and 102 gave him a threeround total of 278.
Grayson Stewart finished at 280 with rounds of 93, 91 and 96.
