Lomega puts end to rare losing skid
Losing streaks are a rarity for the Lomega girls basketball team.
Not since dropping two straight in the 2018 area tournament had the Lady Raiders lost multiple games in a row.
The team duplicated the feat after last weekend’s loss at Seiling.
However, the ship was righted Tuesday on senior night as Lomega closed out its regular season with an 83-30 win over Pond Creek-Hunter.
The Lady Panthers scored just 11 points through three quarters as Lomega compounded its lead.
The Lady Raiders scored at least 24 points in each of those frames and led 77-11 after the third.
Five different Lady Raiders scored in double figures, led by Darcy Roberts’ 19 points.
Abby Swart added 15 more.
Monse Rivera, Hensley Eaton and Chloe Meier added 11 apiece.
Eaton was one of three seniors honored before the game along with Allie Roberts and Shelby Russell.
The Lady Raiders ended their regular season with an 18-5 record.
Raiders cap regular season with win
Lomega’s boys put their own two-game skid to a halt Tuesday as they handed Pond Creek-Hunter a 61-33 defeat.
Seniors Daxon Duffy, Jesse Johnston, Konner Oppel and Blake Snowden earned a win in their final regular season home game as the team completed a 15-8 regular season.
Snowden scored nine points in the win, including six in the first quarter as the Raiders took an 18-13 lead.
Kelby Ott caught fire in the second as he buried a trio of 3-pointers as Lomega went on a 19-2 run.
Ott scored 12 in the game.
The Raiders were led by junior Owen Duffy’s 14 points.
He scored six in the third quarter.
Freshman Ben Marsh added seven for the Raiders.
