John Stangl
John C. Stangl died Jan. 26, 2022, at Mercy Health Center in Oklahoma City. Graveside services for the family will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 31, at Holy Trinity Cemetery in Okarche with Rev. Francis Nguyen officiating.
He will lie in state at Huber-Benson Funeral Home in El Reno on Sunday, Jan. 30, from 1:30 to 6 p.m.
John was born Dec. 18, 1935, in Okarche where he graduated from high school.
He was an automobile mechanic and also worked at Temtrol in Okarche.
On Sept. 24, 1981, he married Delores Dark.
They made their home in Loveland, Colo., where he was employed by Walker Manufacturing.
In 1998 they returned to Oklahoma City where they were currently living.
John was a member of Epiphany of the Lord Catholic Church and Catholic Order of Foresters.
He enjoyed farming, working Sudoku puzzles, and traveling.
His parents, John L. and Clara (Melcher) Stangl; son, Kelly Stangl; brother, George Stangl; and sister, Rosailla Fuksa, preceded him in death.
John is survived by his wife of 40 years, Delores Stangl; children and their spouses, Steven Stangl, Brenda and Mark Walta, Keith and Tina Stangl, Debbie and Greg Miller, Steve Wittrock, and Mike and Lisa Wittrock; sister, Ann Simunek; sister-in-law, Nancy Dark; 14 grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, stipends for Masses in John’s memory may be made to Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Kingfisher or Epiphany of the Lord Catholic Church in Oklahoma City.
