HHS splits conference contests against OBA
A three-game losing streak came to an end Friday for the Hennessey boys.
They traveled to Enid and took home a 58-42 Three Rivers Conference win from Oklahoma Bible Academy.
The Trojans took a twopoint lead into the second quarter thanks to three 3-pointers from Treyton Owens.
However, Owens didn’t make another trey in the game and Hennessey took control over the next two quarters.
After giving up 16 in the first quarter, Hennessey’s defense allowed the Trojans just 14 points over the next 16 minutes.
The Eagles outscored their hosts by 20 during that stretch.
Jael Torres scored 15 of his game-high 22 points during those quarters.
Cristian Rodriguez added 10 of his 16 total points.
Rodriguez made four 3-pointers, two each in the first and third quarters.
Layton Choate added nine for the Eagles as they moved to 7-5 overall and 3-1 in conference games.
Cayot sparks OBA girls to victory
OBA’s girls caught fire in the second quarter as they pulled away from Hennessey for a 73-33 victory.
Kassidy Amburn scored six points in the first quarter as she helped keep the Lady Eagles in it.
Hennessey was down by six after those first eight minutes, but OBA closed the half with a 27-5 run.
The Lady Trojans made six 3-pointers in the second quarter.
Three of those came from Conley Cayot as she scored 11 in the quarter and 24 for the game.
Amburn paced Hennessey with 11 points while Kadee Meeker scored nine.
The loss was Hennessey’s third straight as it dropped to 4-7 overall and 1-3 in the conference.
