Cordell no match on the road against potent Okarche teams

Okarche responded from its longest layoff of the season with its best shooting performance.

The Warriors made 10 3-pointers and shot nearly 70 percent from inside the arc Tuesday as they dominated visiting Cordell 90-49.

“We hadn’t been shooting it that well, so it was good to see,” said coach Aaron West after his Warriors moved to 10-4 on the season.

The dominance started early as Okarche scored 28 points in each of the first two quarters and led by 35 points at halftime.

The defense helped kickstart the hot shooting as Cordell’s 24 turnovers resulted in 37 points for Okarche.

Overall, the Warriors were 35 of 61 from the field, which included 25 of 36 from two-point range.

Four Warriors scored in double figures, led by P.K. Harris’ 15 points. Harris also led the team with seven rebounds.

Hunter Mueggenborg and Trenton Neiderer scored 12 apiece. Neiderer made four of the team’s 3-pointers.

Trey Gilles chipped in 10 points while Evan Endres and Caden Schieber scored eight apiece.

Lady Warriors pull away

It took a quarter to get going, but when Okarche did, Cordell had no shot.

The Lady Warriors racked up another dominant victory, this time 69-20 at home over Cordell.

Up just 12-5 after a quarter, Okarche put the game away in the second with a 23-0 run.

Jalie Rother scored nine points during the dominant frame and eventually finished with 16.

Emma Stover also scored 16 for Okarche. Stover had seven of her team’s first-quarter points.

Sophie Vandendriessche and Adyson Arms scored seven apiece.

The win upped Okarche’s record to 13-1.

The Lady Warriors entered this weekend’s Three Rivers Conference Tournament as the second-ranked team in Class A.
