John Irwin

John David Irwin, 89, of Checotah, passed away Monday, Dec. 13, 2021.

He was born March 25, 1932, in Healdton, the son of Charles and Josie (Yeager) Irwin.

John attended Tonkawa schools where he played football and later furthered his education at Northern Oklahoma College.

He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

John married Wanda Boyd in Kingfisher on Jan. 23, 1953.

He was most recently a member of Lake Eufaula Christian Church.

John was preceded in death by his parents, son David Wayne, sister Josephine Blossom and brother Charles Irwin.

He is survived by his wife of the home, daughter Tonya Maynard and husband Charles of Inola, five grandsons, one granddaughter, eight great-grandchildren and one niece.
