Who’s in, who’s out and who’s going where?

As we enter Week 10, the playoff picture in a lot of districts goes from muddy to slightly foggy.

We’ll clear up those waters as much as possible as we look at the four area teams, their playoff fates and also the potential matchups in the first round of the playoffs:

District 3A-1

First of all, Kingfisher is in. The Jackets secured that fate when they beat Mount St. Mary in Week 8.

Heritage Hall is the champ and Perkins-Tryon will be second.

KHS hosts Anadarko this week.

The Warriors ensured their postseason by beating MSM last week.

That means the winner this week is third and the loser is fourth.

District 3A-1 matches up with 3A-2 in the first round.

There are more potential scenarios in that district, but let’s start with ASSUMING Plainview (5-1 district record) defeats Pauls Valley (4-2).

The other key game is Lone Grove (5-1) at Sulphur (5-1).

IF Lone Grove wins, it will be first (hosting Kingfisher-Anadarko loser) and Plainview second (hosting Kingfisher-Anadarko winner) due to its head-to-head win over Sulphur.

That will put Sulphur third (at Perkins-Tryon) and Pauls Valley fourth (at Heritage Hall).

IF Sulphur defeats Lone Grove, Plainview will be the district champ (hosting Kingfisher-Anadarko loser) followed by (in order) Sulphur (hosting Kingfisher-Anadarko winner), Lone Grove (at Perkins-Tryon) and Pauls Valley (at Heritage Hall).

If Pauls Valley were to upset Plainview this week? We don’t have the ink for those scenarios….

District 2A-1

This is the most complicated of the local scenarios, but Hennessey still has an outside shot.

The key games are the Eagles (3-3) at Luther (5- 1), Blackwell (3-3) at OCS (6-0) and Alva (2-4) at Chisholm (0-6).

OCS already has the district title secured. Luther will be second, regardless of the outcome with Hennessey. Perry (4-2) is going to be third.

Let’s play the assume game: OCS beats Blackwell and gets the maximum 15 district points AND Alva wins at Chisholm.

If, again, Hennessey doesn’t pull off the upset at Luther, it would put the three teams into a tie and bring district points into the picture.

If the scenarios above play out, the more narrow margin of loss for Hennessey, the more narrow margin of win for Alva and the wider the margin of loss for Blackwell...the better it is for Hennessey.

Of course, there’s a lot of assuming there and you have to take into account only 15 district points can be gained or lost each week.

Let’s just say a lot of people with those three schools will be burning up the Skordle app on Friday night.

Whichever team earns the spot is likely looking at a trip to Crossings Christian in the first round.

District A-3

Cashion (4-0) is the district champ and Crescent (0-4) is out of playoff contention.

Those fates were sealed by last week’s results.

Tonkawa (4-1) is going to be second in the district and Oklahoma Christian Academy (3-2) third.

The pivotal game this week is Hinton (1-3) at Watonga (1-3).

The winner is fourth. The loser misses the playoffs.

In A-4, Ringling (6-0) and Elmore City-Pernell (6- 0) play this week. The winner will be first (and host Hinton-Watonga winner) and the loser second (and host OCA).

Wayne (4-2) will take third (and travel to Tonkawa).

Wynnewood (3-3) and Dibble (3-3) play each other this week for the final playoff spot.

The winner gets the prize of traveling to Cashion for the first round of the playoffs.
