Warrior squads blow out foes
Okarche swept through its Class A district basketball championships at home.
The remainder of the potential road to state will be lengthy trips.
The second-ranked Lady Warriors blasted Drumright 90-23 on Saturday night while the Okarche boys hammered Yale 73-45.
That advances both to this week’s regional tournament, which will be played at Regent Prep in Tulsa.
Both will play Wellston in winner’s bracket games Thursday: The girls at 6:30 p.m. and the boys at 8 p.m.
Adyson Arms scored 12 points and Jalie Rother nine in the first quarter alone as Okarche got on top of Drumright 40-4.
The lead was 63-6 by halftime.
Rother led four Lady Warriors in double figures with 18 points. She had her total by the half.
Arms ended her night with 16 while Emma Stover scored 15 and Sophie Vandendriessche 10.
Okarche forced 33 turnovers in the game while committing just six. The Lady Warriors enter the regional with a 22-2 record.
The Okarche boys got monster games from P.K. Harris and Brayden Stover as they ran past the Bulldogs.
Harris scored 27 points and had 13 rebounds while Stover poured in 20 more points to go with seven boards.
They helped Okarche to a 21-9 lead after a quarter, one that grew to 18 points by halftime.
Harris was 10 of 15 from the field and Stover 5 of 8. The latter’s total included 3 of 6 from 3-point range.
Meanwhile, Yale shot just 30.6 percent and committed 23 turnovers.
The Warriors scored 25 points off turnovers and also had 20 second-chance points.
Okarche had 17 offensive rebounds in the game as it improved to 17-7.
