WAR wins USSSA 12U World Series
The Wake and Rake (WAR) 12-and-under baseball team just capped off its season by winning the United States Specialty Sports Association (USSSA) DFW World Series in Dallas, Texas.
The team from northwestern Oklahoma is coached by Gregg Ward of Edmond and Ted Briscoe of Elk City.
Team members include Kingfisher County youth Jake Kroener and Sutton Terrell of Okarche and Jensen Stewart, Kyle Meadors and Ty Stephenson of Kingfi sher. The team went 10-1 in the World Series, defeating teams from Louisiana and Texas to win the title. Stephenson was able to take part in two trophy presentations at the tournament.
Participating in his first World Series, he was named the tournament MVP. Stephenson is the son of Blake and Steffanie Stephenson.
WAR 12U also won the USSSA Oklahoma State Tournament leading up to the World Series.
They finished their season strong, winning 26 out of their final 28 games and finishing with a record of 38-13-2, playing teams from multiple divisions throughout the season.
They won six out of the nine tournaments they entered and ended their season being ranked No. 1 in both Oklahoma and the United States for their division.
