Trio of JH Jackets take part in Elite Games
A trio of Kingfisher seventh graders took part in last weekend’s 2023 Youth Baseball Network Elite Games.
Selected to play in the invitation-only tournament just outside of St. Louis were Jayzen Surveyor, Braydon Livingston and Collin Farrar.
The three were selected after their performances in the Greater Midwest Baseball Mother’s Day Classic tournament in Branson, Mo.
The Kingfisher Blue Sox, a 12-under team, won that tournament in May in front of multiple scouts for the Elite Games.
Invitations were extended to Surveyor, Livingston, Farrar and Drew Snider, though he was unable to attend.
Livingston and Farrar were named to the Red-Mapes team while Surveyor played for Blue-Stein.
After a pair of pool play games last Saturday and then two bracket games on Sunday, those teams found themselves facing off in Sunday night’s championship game.
With the Red team clinging to a 13-12 lead, the would-be tying run rounded third from home, but was gunned out on a throw by Farrar from centerfield to end the game.
Livingston was on the mound to close out the win for the Red.
A local company helped pave the way for the young men to compete.
Jet Specialty of Kingfi sher covered the players’ entry fees as well as travel expenses for their respective families.
All three players - as well as Snider - will be seventh graders at Kingfisher Junior High this year.
