Terriers top field in small-school tournament
Thomas dominated much of the top of the leaderboard Monday to win the inaugural Dover Invitational golf tournament at Kingfisher Golf Course.
The Terriers had three of the five medalists and won the team championship over 16 other squads.
The Terriers shot a 311 using the Maxwell format, which takes the top four scores by a team on each hole as opposed to the top four scores for the entire round.
Oklahoma Bible Academy was 11 strokes behind Thomas to take second while Tuttle JV was another 11 behind OBA.
Hennessey was the top county team as the Eagles shot a 340, good for fourth.
The Eagles did boast the individual champion as Kevin Trillo turned in a 2-over-par 72.
That was three strokes better than Thomas’ Brett Dobbins, the first of three straight Terriers next up on the leaders’ list.
Vincent Alspuro was third with a 76 and Dunkan Laughlin fourth with a 77.
Kingfisher JV’s Matthew Mecklenburg collected hardware as he was fifth with a 78.
The Jackets placed sixth as a team with a 359.
Eli Johnson turned in an 81, Kale Hart a 103, Cale Leck a 108 and Jorden Beck a 115.
Following Trillo for the Eagles were Taylor Ladwig’s 79, Daren Lara’s 97, Joseph Davis’ 99 and Kaden Kennedy’s 108.
Okarche was eighth with a 374.
Hunter Mueggenborg led the Warriors with an 83.
Lane Rother was next with an 87.
Quinn Schneiter fired a 98, Parker Schieber a 107 and Luke Harris a 116.
Cashion was 11th as a team with a 386.
Ashton Moore paced the Wildcats with an 86.
Drake Woody finished at 101, Titus Davis shot a 103, Asher Howell a 106 and Hank Brown a 125.
Playing as individuals for the host Dover team, Sam Wood shot an 83 and Colton Burns a 101.
