Taylor leads Crescent contingent into state
Kinidi Taylor continued her dominance in the long jump and showed off her speed in leading Crescent to a fourth-place finish.
Taylor is the defending 2A state champ in the long jump and has the best jump in the state this year - regardless of class - at 19 feet, 3 inches.
At the regional, she won gold with a leap of 18-11.5, which was more than two feet further than the silver medalist.
The junior earned another gold and two silvers on the day.
Jill Watkins, Calen Cox and Reydon Walker joined her to win the 400 relay, just head of Cashion.
That quartet was second behind Cashion in the 800 relay.
Taylor was also second in the 100 meter dash, two spots better than her teammate, Walker.
Crescent scored 81 team points. Taylor took part in 54 of them.
Kinzie Bell delivered a throw of 117-7 to win the discus regional title by more than 16 feet.
Cox also delivered a silver medal in the high jump for the Lady Tigers.
Breanna Thomas took fifth in the pole vault, but is an additional qualifier after clearing 7-0.
Walker was fourth in the 100, but also qualified for the state field. She was also fifth in the 200, but her time also landed her at state.
Crescent’s boys tied for 12th with 14 team points at the regional.
The Tigers’ Rashawn Perkins qualified for state by taking third in the 400 meter run.
Stone Fisher took fifth in the shot put, but his throw of 45 feet proved enough to get him into the state field.
