The Brett Tahah era at Okarche is off to a successful start.

The Lady Warriors ran past the OKC Knights to give the new Okarche girls coach a win in her first attempt.

Sophomore Katie Parham did her part to make it happen by scoring a gamehigh 21 points.

She had 16 at halftime as Okarche staked a 41-16 lead.

The Lady Warriors’ scoring slowed in the second half, but the Knights still couldn’t cut into their deficit.

Harper White added 12 points for Okarche while Callie Cramer poured in nine and Katy Creswell seven.

Okarche was able to force 17 turnovers while only committing 11.

The Defense Begins

One game into the season and the Okarche Warriors have picked up where they left off.

The defending Class A state champs officially opened the defense of their title last Friday with a 99-53 home victory over the OKC Knights in their season opener.

Jett Mueggenborg and Easton Roby combined for 59 points and 18 rebounds.

As usual, however, it was Okarche’s relentless pressure and pace that did in the visitors.

The Warriors forced 35 turnovers, scored 43 points off of them and took nearly twice as many shots as the Knights.

By halftime, Okarche had scored 62 points and led by 28. The Warriors outscored in the Knights in every frame.

The two junior standouts did a bulk of that scoring.

Mueggenborg, the state tournament MVP from last season, poured in 33 points.

Roby scored 26 and helped his cause by making 4 of 7 3-point attempts Both players had nine rebounds.

Okarche also got 11 points from Ethan Kirby, who was 3 of 5 from 3-point range.

Hunter Mueggenborg fought off early foul trouble to finish with 10 points and seven assists.

Okarche made nearly as many field goals (37) as the OKC Knights attempts (40).

The visitors were led by Jacob Smith, who scored 11. James Walker added 10.
