Stone, Cortes named to OCA All-State team
Kingfisher’s Matthew Stone and Bijan Cortes were selected to the Oklahoma Coaches Association All-State basketball team last week.
The duo will compete for the Large West (Classes 4A-6A) when it plays the Large East selections July 29 in the Tulsa area.
Stone and Cortes were two of only 10 players selected to the team.
Cortes averaged 21.8 points, 4.8 rebounds, 5.3 assists and 2.7 steals during his senior campaign.
Stone brought in averages of 15.7 points, 7.9 rebounds, 3.7 assists and 1.8 steals.
They helped the Jackets to a 25-1 record and the Class 4A state championship.
During their four-year careers, during which they were both starters, KHS was 107-4, won two state titles and was a state runner-up once.
The 96.4 win percentage is the best-ever during a four-year stretch for an Oklahoma boys basketball program.
Cortes has signed to play at the University of Oklahoma while Stone signed to play at the University of North Texas.
