STILL THE CHAMPS

HOLD IT HIGH – Kingfisher High School’s Maddox Mecklenburg holds up the championship trophy of the Buckle of the Wheatbelt Invitational, which concluded last Saturday in front of a packed house at the APB. The second-ranked Yellowjackets won their seventh consecutive Buckle title by defeating No. 3 Weatherford 61-51. Mecklenburg was in street clothes for the championship after injuring his knee in Friday’s semifinal. Teammates insisted he collect the trophy during Saturday’s presentation.
