Snider, Hood grab top 10’s at Elk City
KHS golfers follow up with better rounds on home course
Sophomore Kylie Hood and freshman Raegan Snider shot their best rounds of the season on Wednesday, but couldn’t crack the list of medal winners at the Kingfisher Girls Large School Invitational golf tournament.
Snider shot an 84 and Hood a 92 at Kingfisher Golf Course, which was hosting a tournament for the second day.
The duo played as individuals as Kingfisher doesn’t have enough players for a full team.
Despite the blustery northwest wind that was prevalent throughout the day, one golfer did come in under-par.
Turner’s Jaci Hartman shot a 4-under 68 to win medalist honors.
She helped lead Turner to the team championship as well.
The Lady Falcons fired a 310 using the Maxwell Format.
Turner’s Josey Cavitt shot a 77 along with Kallie
DeIorio of Cache.
DeIorio won on a scorecard playoff to take second.
Fourth and fifth belonged to a pair of Carl Albert golfers.
Kamryn Zuniga and Rylan Ashley both shot 79s. Zuniga won on the scorecard for fourth.
The duo helped Carl Albert to a 320, good for second place.
Elk City was the third place team with a 358.
Cushing and Tuttle tied for fourth with 363s.
Putnam City North was sixth with its 365.
Sixteen full teams competed as well as an additional eight individuals.
Small schools took their turn on Wednesday and Merritt headed back west with the team championship.
The team had the top three individuals in shooting a 350.
That was 51 strokes better than runner-up Casady’s 401.
Kiera Stehr fired an 84 for medalist honors. She beat teammate Dayli Pollard by two strokes and Taylor Ford by seven.
Hennessey had two golfers in the field.
Kadee Meeker shot a 105 and Avery Vendetti a 129.
While those teams took on the Kingfisher course, Snider and Hood were taking part in the Elk City Invitational at Elk City Golf and Country Club.
Snider limped to the finish, but still shot a 90, which was good for second place overall.
She was just one stroke behind winner Addison Littke of Clinton.
Hood’s 96 tied her for seventh place in the field.
