Redwine dominates golf tour
A second grader at Kingfisher Heritage School has discovered a love for golf...and has some new hardware to show for it. Annie Kate Redwine is the daughter of Drew and Lesley Redwine. Annie Kate had played a little golf recreationally, but began to take it more seriously in April. She competed in a Drive, Chip and Putt event which is a joint initiative of the PGA Tour of America, United States Golf Association and the Masters Tournament. Annie Kate won first place at the local qualifier at Fort Sill Golf Course, which advanced her to the sub-regional at Lincoln Park Golf Course. Annie Kate, 8, placed fourth in that event, which left her just short of moving on to the regional qualifier. However, Annie Kate’s competition wasn’t done. She entered the U.S. Kids Oklahoma City Fall Tour, which began in August and ran into October. The tour consisted of eight nine-hole tournaments in her girls’ 8-under division. Annie Kate won six of them, including the Tour Championship held Oct. 20 at the Golf Club at Cimarron Trails in Perkins. In that final tournament, Annie Kate shot a personal-best 48. That was 11 strokes better than her score on that course when she took second place there on Aug. 25. Annie Kate also won tournaments held at Lincoln Park, Earlywine, Westwood, Cimarron National and Crimson Creek. Annie Kate scored 230 points for the season. The next highest total was 130.
