Raiders drop 2 OT showdown at PC-H; Lomega girls win to end regular season
Lomega found its offense in the second half, but lost it again in the overtime periods.
That saw the Raiders drop a 55-48 double- overtime decision last Tuesday afternoon at Pond Creek-Hunter.
The Raiders managed just 14 first-half points and trailed by nine before doubling their output in the third quarter.
Lance Yost, Chase Burton and Ben Marsh combined to score all 14 points as Lomega pulled within three entering the fourth.
They were able to tie it up in the fourth quarter before Pond Creek’s Jackson Jones drove and put the Panthers back on top 45-43.
Then, with just over a minute to play in regulation, Jaxson Snowden tied it back up for the Raiders.
The Panthers worked for a final shot, but missed a 3-pointer at the buzzer.
Once in overtime, Gabe Jones made an early trey for the home team before Burton responded with the same for Lomega.
The Raiders eventually got the ball back and held for the final shot, but couldn’t get a good look as time expired.
Once in the second overtime period, the Panthers outscored Lomega 7-0.
Micah Westrope led four Panthers in double figures with his 14 points.
Burton made four treys overall to lead Lomega with 16 points.
Yost scored 12 and Marsh 11 as the Raiders concluded their regular season with a 16-8 record.
Lady Raiders win big Lomega found its way back to the win column as it prepares for its playoff run.
The Lady Raiders downed Pond Creek-Hunter 62-31 on the road last Tuesday afternoon to close out their regular season.
They were initially set to begin their district tournament at home on Thursday, but weather conditions pushed it back to Friday instead.
The top-ranked team in Class B enters the playoffs with a 21-3 record.
Two of those losses came in Lomega’s three previous games - one to Class B No. 2 Hammon and the other to Class A No. 1 Seiling.
PC-H didn’t pose any such threat.
The Lady Panthers found themselves trailing by 10 after a quarter, then Lomega went on a 21-4 run in the second.
The visitors pushed their lead to 37 points by the end of the third quarter.
The balanced Lomega attack was led by Reagan Snowden’s 14 points.
Aliana Lawson chipped in 11 points and Kate Myers scored 10.
