Raiders down T-lake for title
Lomega got to show off its new baseball digs.
Now it gets to show off some baseball hardware.
The Raiders on Friday closed out their Class B district tournament with a 12-3 victory over Timberlake on their home field.
The win puts Lomega into this week’s regional tournament.
After opening up the district Thursday with a thrilling 10-9 win over Timberlake, Lomega cruised to the title.
The Raiders run-ruled Cimarron/Aline-Cleo 13-1 later on Thursday to earn their spot in the title game.
The Tigers knocked out Cimarron/Aline-Cleo to earn a spot against Lomega in the championship, but needed to beat the Raiders twice. It didn’t happen once.
Lomega (15-15) is in a regional tournament - it’s believed - for the first time in just over 20 years.
The Raiders will travel to Moss for a four-team, double-elimination regional beginning Thursday.
Also joining are Big Pasture and Buffalo Valley.
Lomega will take on the top-seeded hosts at 11 a.m. in the opener.
Moss is ranked No. 5 in the class and boasts a 22-2 record.
