Raiders cruise into Canton semis; girls put on hold again
Lomega’s boys and girls teams made their way into the semifinals of this week’s Canton Invitational Tournament.
But only one of them got to play a quarterfinal game.
The Raiders dominated Arnett 90-38 Monday in their first game since Nov. 20.
They put the game away early with a 25-8 run as Riley Lumpkin scored all 14 of his points in the first quarter.
Noah Snowden added seven in the first and nine in the second quarter when the Raiders went on a 27-8 spurt.
Snowden led the team with 19 points. Lumpkin scored 14.
Dion Fisher added another 12 points.
Eleven Raiders scored overall as they led 77-24 after three quarters.
While it was the boys’ first time seeing game action in 17 days, the Lady Raiders haven’t seen the court in over a month.
Class B’s top-ranked Lomega girls were set to play Taloga in the first round, but Taloga was unable to field a team this week.
That put the Lady Raiders into the semifinals Friday night (after press time) against Calumet, which beat Okeene 46-45 in overtime in their quarterfinal game.
One of the games Lomega was forced to postpone during the extended break was Nov. 17 against Calumet.
“I really hope we get to play this time,” coach Kevin Lewallen said. “We really need to have a game. It’s been too long.”
The Lomega boys, ranked third in Class B, were slated to play Oklahoma Bible Academy in Friday night’s semifinals. OBA defeated Canton 48-31 in the first round.
