Kingfisher’s first loss of the season didn’t carry over into district play.

Three Yellowjacket pitchers combined for two shutouts and surrendered just two hits over a pair of games in sweeping Pauls Valley 8-0 and 10-0 Monday in District 4A-2 games at Homier Field.

The wins gave KHS a 4-0 district mark and an 11-1 overall record.

The loss came last Friday, a 5-4 setback to 6A’s Westmoore during the Edmond Festival.

The Jackets led Westmoore 3-1 entering the seventh, but the Jaguars posted four runs to take a 5-3 lead into the last half-inning.

Keaton Abercrombie brought KHS within a run with an RBI single to score Tate Taylor and put the tying run at second base.

However, Westmoore got out of the jam to preserve the win.

There were no such dramatics Monday as Pauls Valley never offered any offensive threat.

Ian Daugherty and Will Taylor combined to hold the Panthers to one hit over seven innings in the opener.

Daugherty threw six innings and struck out 11 to garner the win.

Taylor struck out two in his inning of work.

Chase Gustafson provided all the necessary run support with a two-run double that was part of a five-run first inning.

He was one of eight Yellowjackets who combined for 10 hits. Seven different KHS players scored.

Two of those runs belonged to Zach Goodwin, who also had two hits.

The Jackets got their three remaining runs in the sixth when Daugherty and Cooper Covalt had RBI singles and Cade Stephenson delivered an RBI sacrifice fly.

Creighton Bugg threw all five innings in the run-rule victory in the nightcap.

The senior right-hander gave up just one hit while sitting down eight Panthers via the strikeout.

Bugg also had an RBI and one of Kingfisher’s nine hits.

Will Taylor collected two hits and also scored twice.

Gustafson, Daugherty and Keaton Abercrombie delivered two RBIs apiece while Goodwin scored a run and knocked in another.

The Jackets scored at least two runs in each of their final four at-bats.
