Okarche tops HHS for 8th straight win
Make that eight in a row for the Okarche Lady Warriors.
They continued their win streak Thursday by shutting down Hennessey over the final three quarters in a 48-22 win at the Eagle Event Center.
The Lady Warriors are now 16-7 on the season and 2-2 in the Three Rivers Conference and have the opportunity to still win a share of the regular season championship.
Hennessey wanted to derail those hopes.
The Lady Eagles’ Kadee Meeker hit two early 3-pointers to give her team the lead.
But Okarche settled in and took the lead at the buzzer on Jadyn Rother’s steal and layup.
It was all Okarche from there.
Hennessey managed only five points over the next 16 minutes and just 10 points the rest of the night.
Scout Payne scored seven points in the third as Okarche turned a sixpoint halftime lead into a 13-point advantage. Okarche sealed it at the foul line, making 11 of 14 in the fourth.
Rother made all four of her attempts and scored a game-high 15.
Payne finished her night with 12 and Katie Parham notched eight points.
Hennessey got nine points from Meeker and six from Ally Painter.
The Lady Eagles are now 9-11 overall and 1-4 in the conference.
Okarche got off to a much faster start on Tuesday at home.
They overmatched Calumet early before cruising to the 59-19 win at home.
Rother, Parham and Payne scored six points each in the first quarter as Okarche built a 20-2 lead.
Every Lady Warrior scored before the game ended.
Parham led all scorers with 11 points while Harper White added nine.
