Okarche girls stay in contention
With her team facing elimination, Jadyn Rother only scored two field goals on Thursday.
She more than made up the slack at the free throw line.
Rother scored 19 points all but four from the charity stripe - as the Okarche Lady Warriors knoced off No. 15 Texhoma in a Class A area consolation quarterfinal at Woodward.
The victory was Okarche’s third straight while facing elimination since losing to Oklahoma Bible Academy a week prior.
Okarche and Texhoma were tied entering the fourth quarter before the Lady Warriors outscored their foe 16-9.
Katie Parham and Scout Payne each made a big 3-pointer in the quarter while Rother made 7 of 10 free throws.
The three misses were her only ones of the game from the foul line.
She was 8 of 8 in the first half when she scored 12 of Okarche’s 22 points in a tie game.
Payne scored five points and Ruby Van-DenDriessche joined her in making a 3-pointer in the third as the two teams kept even.
Payne finished the game with 11 points.
VanDenDriessche scored eight while Parham added seven points. The victory moved Okarche into Friday afternoon’s consolation semifinal (after press time) against Garber.
Garber beat Mooreland 41-32 Thursday.
