One of Okarche’s four hiccups last season came at the South Canadian Classic in Leedey.

There was no hiccup this season.

Jett Mueggenborg was named tournament MVP as he led the Warriors to three days of domination and the championship.

The title tilt saw Okarche beat Class B’s sixth-ranked Hammon 86-60 Saturday night.

Mueggenborg scored 35 points and grabbed nine rebounds in the finals.

It wrapped up a threeday run in which the junior averaged 30.0 points, 9.3 rebounds, 3 assists and 3 steals a game.

Over the three days, he shot 27 of 43 (62.8 percent) from two-point range and 9 of 22 (40.9 percent) from beyond the arc.

“His numbers for the tournament were crazy,” said head coach Aaron West after his team improved to 9-0.

Okarche got its eighth win Friday in dominating the second half en route to an 87-49 victory over host Leedey.

The Bison knocked off Okarche 62-55 in last year’s championship game.

They hung with the Warriors in the first quarter, one that saw Okarche lead 25-21.

Okarche, for the most part, kept it up. Leedey eventually wilted.

The lead was 42-31 at the half before Okarche took a stranglehold on the game with a 24-4 run in the third quarter.

Mueggenborg scored 33 points and grabbed a gamehigh 14 rebounds as well.

Easton Roby poured in 18 points and eight rebounds while Hunter Mueggenborg scored 12.

Those two joined Jett Mueggenborg on the all-tournament team.

Hammon also did its best to keep up and scored more on Okarche than anyone else this season.

Hammon shot 61.5 percent for the game, but also committed 28 turnovers.

Okarche capitalized on them to score 35 points.

Hammon scored at least 13 in every quarter, but still faced a 27-point deficit entering the fourth.

Okarche shot 40 3-pointers in the game, which was one more than Hammon had total field goal attempts.

The Warriors connected on 14 of them.

Jett Mueggenborg and Roby nailed four apiece.

Roby finished with 24 points and six rebounds.

Court Sumrall made three of them to account for his nine points off the bench.

Hunter Mueggenborg scored seven points and 10 assists.

Lady Warriors bounce back for consolation title

After a heartbreaking loss in the quarterfinals, Okarche’s girls bounced back for a pair of dominant wins and the consolation championship at the South Canadian Classic in Leedey.

The Lady Warriors let a late lead slip away in their 46-45 loss to Arapaho Thursday.

They came back to down Vici 73-20 in the consolation semifinals, then dealt Balko/Forgan a 45-29 defeat Saturday.

Avery Schieber and Logan White scored six points apiece in the second quarter against Balko.

That was the frame that Okarche went on a 19-4 run, allowing the Lady Warriors to erase a deficit and have Balko doubled up by halftime.

They extended the lead by seven more in the third as Katie Parham heated up with a pair of 3-pointers and seven points.

She finished with a team-high 13.

Schieber scored nine and White eight.

There was no early deficit against Vici. Okarche led 20-4 after a quarter and 46-8 by half.

Parham scored 16 points to lead the way.

Kylie Harper scored nine of her 12 in the second quarter.

Ally Baustert finished the game with 11.

The two wins gave Okarche a 5-4 overall record.
