Longhorns let lead slip away
Dover let a fourth quarter lead disappear Tuesday before dropping its fifth straight game.
Canton’s Hudsen Scott made one free throw with 1:12 left in overtime and the Tigers added one more with less than five seconds to play to defeat the Longhorns 50-48.
Playing on their home court, the Tigers outscored Dover 15-6 in the fourth quarter.
Still, Dover had a chance to win, but Damion Turner missed a pair of free throws with just over five seconds left in regulation.
The Longhorns trailed by a point and had possession in the final seconds of over-time, but turned it back over to the Tigers.
Dover led by five at halftime, then Turner scored 11 points in the third quarter as the Longhorns extended their lead to nine.
Dover had just two field goals in the fourth quarter and overtime.
Turner led Dover with 18 points.
Kolten Shaw scored 11 before fouling out in the extra frame.
The loss knocked Dover to 7-15 on the season.
Lady Longhorns doubled up by Canton
Dover had its second lowest offensive output of the season in a 50-25 loss to the Lady Tigers.
The Lady Longhorns found themselves down 16-2 after a quarter and never could make a serious run at their hosts.
They had no answer for Imiyah Littlejohn, who scored 16 of her game-high 18 points in the first half.
Karlee Harviston scored nine of Dover’s 11 second-quarter points, but the Lady Longhorns still trailed by 16 at halftime.
The deficit grew to 22 points by the end of the third.
Harviston led her team with 11 points.
Dover was 15-7 after the loss.
