Local teams return to action this week
Most area basketball teams are going to return to the court before students get back to their classrooms from Christmas break.
Five schools are playing games this weekend, a majority of them Friday.
That includes Kingfisher, which hosts Cache Friday night at the APB.
Girls tipoff is 6:30 p.m.
Also on Friday, Lomega will play host to Medford while Crescent makes a trip to Fairview.
Dover will play in the biggest venue when the Longhorns and Lady Longhorns take on Pioneer-Pleasant Vale.
Those teams will be playing Friday at Chesapeake Energy Arena in Oklahoma City. Girls will begin at 6 p.m. with boys to follow.
Cashion makes its return to the court Saturday when it travels to Stroud.
The girls will begin at 1:30 p.m. and the boys at approximately 3 p.m.
Okarche and Hennessey are waiting until Tuesday, Jan.7, to begin the second parts of their seasons.
Okarche hosts Cordell while Hennessey goes to Crescent.
Toward the end of next week, several area teams will converge in Kingfi sher for the Three Rivers Conference Tournament, which will be played Jan. 9-11 at the APB.
It will include Okarche, Hennessey, Cashion and Crescent as well as Watonga, OBA and Harding Fine Arts. That schedule will be included in our weekend edition.
KHS wrestling gets back to the mat on Tuesday as well.
The Jackets will travel to Hinton for a dual that will also include junior high.
Kingfisher will also take part in the Cushing High School Tournament Jan. 10-11.
