Likely no game for KHS this week
As of press time, Kingfisher remained without a football opponent this week.
“We’re still trying, but at this point it doesn’t look good,” KHS Athletic Director Jay Wood said late Monday afternoon.
KHS was set to travel to Mount St. Mary on Friday for its Week 8 contest.
However, the MSM football team has been in quarantine protocol - meaning no games and no practices.
Although the protocol ends Friday, the Rockets are opting to postpone or cancel the game with KHS.
Wood said he has attempted to work with both Mount St. Mary and Douglass, another District 3A-1 foe that was forced to cancel against Kingfisher earlier this season, to get one or both games played within the next week, but to no avail as of Tuesday.
“There just weren’t that many teams out there this week that were available,” KHS head coach Jeff Myers said.
“The ones that are, it’s just not a viable situation for us to work it out with them, so we’ll likely take the extra week to work on our next game.”
KHS is set to host Heritage Hall on Oct. 30.
The Chargers - along with KHS and Anadarko - are unbeaten in district play entering this week.
