Lady Longhorns run past Coyle, 80-51
Coyle did a fair amount of scoring on Tuesday.
Dover just did a lot more. The Lady Longhorns won their third consecutive game as they rolled by the Lady Bluejackets 80-51 at home.
Karlee Harviston scored 28 points to lead four Dover players in double figures.
The junior scored 13 points in the second quarter as Dover went on a 25-10 run to build 23-point lead.
Katelyn Harviston added 19 points while Ashley Gamez scored 14 and Rylee Buck 11.
Madison Goodwin contributed six points as Dover moved to 14-4 on the season.
Coyle (8-8) was led by Naliyah McLauren’s 16 points. She scored 14 in the second half.
Bluejackets take advantage of Dover’s slow start
Dover took too long to get going offensively in its matchup with Coyle. The Longhorns scored just 13 first-half points before eventually falling 56-47 at home to the Bluejackets on Tuesday.
Coyle was able to stake a 16-point halftime lead before Dover began to heat up in the third quarter.
The Longhorns more than doubled their firsthalf output as Orlando Lozano knocked down a pair of 3-pointers and Luis Ruiz scored seven.
Despite scoring 17, Dover’s deficit increased by a point.
Pedro Valles scored seven and Damion Turner six in the fourth, but the Longhorns couldn’t complete a rally.
Valles led the team with 14 points.
Turner scored 11 and Ruiz 10 as Dover lost its fourth straight.
The Longhorns were 6-11 after the defeat.
