KPS officials alert to playoff changes, guidelines
As the basketball playoffs are set to begin for Kingfisher High School, the school district wants to make fans aware of some of the guidelines and changes that are in place this year.
“Some of these things are new and some of them aren’t, but we just want to limit the number of surprises or confusion of our fans,” Athletic Director Jeremy Young said.
• First and foremost, as previously reported, KHS won’t be playing in a district this weekend (Feb. 1718. The teams’ scheduled opponent, ASTEC Charter School, dropped out of the playoffs after the pairings were released, giving the KHS squads a bye into the regional tournament.
• That regional tournament runs Feb. 23-25. KHS is a regional sub-site, meaning it will host games on Thursday, the first day. The remainder of the regional will be played at Cleveland High School.
• Due to ASTEC Charter dropping out, there will be no afternoon session games here on Thursday as those teams will also receive a bye into the second day.
• Start times have changed for evening session games. Previously they were played at 6:30 and 8 p.m. They are now at 6 p.m. (girls) and 7:30 p.m. (boys). Afternoon session times remain unchanged and will tipoff at 1:30 and 3 p.m.
• Both e-tickets and cash will be accepted at the gate for the OSSAA playoff games. Cash tickets are $10 each. E-tickets purchased online will be $8.35 each. They can be purchased ahead of time by visiting www.gofan.co and then entering “Kingfisher” in the search window to find the correct event. The website will prompt fans to purchase as many tickets as necessary using their credit card.
• Those who purchase online need to ensure gate workers can redeem those tickets. Screenshots and/ or photos of the tickets will not work.
• Only OSSAA playoff passes will be accepted at playoff games. Kingfisher’s student passes, adult allsport passes, veterans cards and other commonly used passes are not allowed to be accepted for these events.
