KPS emphasizes new APB protocols
Kingfisher’s basketball season is hitting the home stretch and this season that means a plethora of games at the APB over the next two months.
Kingfisher Public Schools officials want to remind patrons of the protocols in place due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Chief among them is a ticket being required for entry to games, which will have limited seating.
Each athlete competing in home games will receive four tickets for each home game to be distributed at their choosing.
Cheerleaders - up to eight - will receive two tickets apiece.
The tickets are color coded for each game and anyone without a ticket or without the correct ticket will no tbe allowed entry.
Masks are required for entry into the APB and social distancing will also be required inside.
For those who don’t go, the games are broadcast on www. kingfishersports.tv.
“Our ability to participate in athletic competition this winter is dependent on the cooperation of our student-athletes, coaches, parents and patrons,” Superintendent Jason Stern-berger said.
“The protocols are in place to help all of us mitigate the risk of spreading COVID-19 and may be reviewed and adjusted as needed, if and when new information becomes available from the CDC, State Health Department, SDE, and OSSAA.”
Following are other guidelines in place:
• All athletes will be prescreened before home and away events through their respective coaches.
• Seating has been arranged for “Home” fans on the south side and “Away” fans on the north side and student sections. Please social distance between families.
• Social distancing is necessary; please stay at least 6 feet apart while in ticket lines, concession lines, restrooms, etc.
• Locker rooms will be accessible to teams only for pregame or halftime. Masks will be required in locker rooms, athletic training rooms, coaches’ offices, and on the benches while not competing.
• All ticket takers and concession workers will wear a mask or face covering.
• Only necessary personnel will be allowed at the scorer’s table.
• Coaches, players, administrators, and pre-approved media only willbe allowed on the court before or after the contest.
• Sportsmanship is paramount to the development of young people, but during this time, we will recommend no hand shaking between opposing teams, both before and after games, to reduce contact as much as possible.
