Kingfisher Police Department reports
The Kingfisher Police Department has investigated or responded to the following reports:
August 27 - Larceny of lost property. Officer Travis Gray investigated a report of a lost wallet at Walmart.
Cassie Sigl, Kingfisher, reportedly stated she left her wallet in the shopping cart at Walmart the previous evening and didn’t notice until the next morning.
According to the report, she contacted the manager at Walmart about the lost wallet and he stated the wallet had been recovered by an employee and was being held in the store vault. Sigl retrieved her wallet from Walmart and reportedly stated that $200 was missing.
Officer Gray asked the loss prevention associate at Walmart if he could retrieve the surveillance video of the parking lot from the alleged time of the theft. The officer stated in his report that he received the video footage but the quality was poor and he was unable to determine anything from the footage.
August 29 - Unlawful carry of loaded firearm. Officer Richard Staton took a report of a suspicious vehicle in the 900 block of South Eleventh Street.
According to the report, after Officer Staton advised other officers of the suspicious vehicle’s description and tag number, the vehicle was located. Officer Staton reported that he made an investigative stop of the vehicle in the McDonald’s parking lot.
The driver, a 38-year-old male, reportedly stated he was headed to work from his residence on South Sixth Street and had not stopped anywhere along the way. According to the report, as Officer Staton was checking the driver’s identification status and warrants, Sergeant Trumbley asked the driver to step out of the vehicle and then retrieved from the vehicle a loaded 40-caliber pistol which had been in a location close to the driver’s legs.
Officer Staton stated in his report the driver did not have a license to carry the firearm. The firearm was seized and the driver received a citation for unlawfully carrying a loaded firearm, according to the report.
August 29 - Driving under the influence. Officer Charles Trout responded to a report of a reckless driver.
According to the report, Officer Trout located a 2018 Nissan Frontier and after witnessing the vehicle cross the center line, the officer initiated a traffic stop on U.S. 81 and Industrial Avenue.
Officer Trout wrote the driver a warning for failure to maintain lane and then conducted field sobriety tests, which the driver was unable to satisfactorily complete, according to the report. The driver was placed under arrest for DUI and a bottle of Vodka, 80 proof, was collected as evidence from the driver’s vehicle, according to the report.
Officer Trout stated that he made contact with the reporting parties and obtained statements concerning the reckless driving they witnessed which led to the traffic stop and arrest.
August 30 - Aggravated DUI and transporting open container. While on patrol, Officer Richard Staton stated that he observed a 2008 Dodge fail to signal while making a lane change and that the vehicle also had an expired tag.
According to the report, the officer initiated a traffic stop in the 1400 block of Oak Street and upon making contact with the driver, a 52-year-old male, he noticed a strong smell of alcohol coming from inside the vehicle. The driver reportedly stated that he’d only drank two beers.
Officer Staton reported that he conducted field sobriety tests, which the driver was unable to perform satisfactorily and was placed under arrest for suspicion of DUI. According to the report, an open container of beer that was cool to the touch was found in the vehicle and seized as evidence. Officer Trout assisted with the traffic stop.
September 2 - Aggravated DUI. Officer Dillon Chaloupek was dispatched to a report of a reckless driver entering the city limits westbound on S.H. 33.
Officer Chaloupek stated in his report that he initiated a traffic stop after witnessing a 2012 Honda Civic cross the center lane multiple times after entering the city limits.
According to the report, the driver, a 29-year-old female, appeared to be confused and the officer detected the odor of alcohol coming from her vehicle. Officer Chaloupek stated in his report that he performed field sobriety tests on the driver, which she was unable to complete satisfactorily.
The officer placed the driver under arrest for suspicion of driving under the influence. Officer Ridenhour assisted with the traffic stop.
September 2 - Possession of dangerous drugs prohibited. Sam Ridenhour was dispatched to a report of a reckless driver entering the city limits southbound on U.S. 81.
The officer initiated a traffic stop after he witnessed a 2012 GMC truck cross the center line and almost strike a parked vehicle after entering the city limits, according to the report. The officer reported the driver, a 42-year-old male, appeared nervous and confused, but denied taking any drugs.
As Officer Ridenhour was checking the driver’s identification status, assisting Officer Justin Trumbley asked the driver to step out of the vehicle and the officer noticed a marijuana blunt in the driver’s seat, according to the report.
Officer Ridenhour stated in his report the officers found and seized two glass jars containing a total of 26 grams of a green leafy substance that field tested positive for marijuana and seven baggies containing a total of 6.5 grams of a white crystal substance that field tested positive for methamphetamine.
The driver was arrested for possession of marijuana and possession of methamphetamine.
Officers Justin Trumbley and Dillon Chaloupek assisted with the traffic stop.
