Kingfisher County’s Tuesday night basketball roundup
Girls
A dominant stretch in the first half led to, perhaps, Kingfisher’s most complete game this season.
The Lady Jackets went from seven points down to leading by 13 at halftime and carried that momentum Tuesday to a 57-40 victory over Blanchard at the APB.
“I agree 100 percent,” said coach Gerrett Spears when asked if it was his team’s best overall game this season. “The girls played really well. They made shots and executed and only gave up two offensive rebounds.”
KHS shot 51 percent for the game, which included going 6 of 11 from 3-point range.
It just took the Lady Jackets a while to get going.
Blanchard led 10-3 with about two minutes left in the first quarter, but when KHS came alive, the Lady Lions had no answer.
KHS pulled within six before the end of the quarter, then went on a 26-7 run in the second.
The first half exclamation point was provided by Jenni Beebe when she got a steal and banked in a half-court shot at the buzzer.
Blanchard cut the deficit to single digits in the third quarter, but KHS closed the game with a 17-9 run.
Beebe led the team with 18 points.
Sophomore guard Ally Stephenson provided 11 points and shared the team high with six rebounds. Fellow sophomore Rayland Garner also had 11 points and six boards.
Allison Green and Kina Frost - two more sophomores - scored eight points apiece. Green contributed six boards as well.
Kingfi sher out-rebounded Blanchard 33-22. Eleven of Kingfisher’s rebounds were on the offensive end.
Kingfisher was 9-4 after the victory...
At the end of the fi rst quarter, Ringwood, with all four of its wins this season, led the No. 1-ranked team in Class B.
Unfortunately for the host team, the final three quarters had to be contested.
After waking up, Lomega put the throttle down to blow past Ringwood 100-46 on Tuesday with a dominant final three quarters.
Ringwood led the Lady Raiders 16-15 after a quarter before Lomega went on a 33-10 run in the second.

No Lady Warrior scored in double figures, but nine of them scored and five of them had eight or more.
Sage Griswold scored all eight of hers in the first quarter. She knocked down a pair of treys and another field goal as Okarche got on top 16-8.
The team made four 3-pointers - two by Marlo Hunt - in the second as the lead grew to 30-11.

Hennessey dropped to 5-9 and 0-5. The Lady Eagles were led by Juliana Macy and Karlee McNulty, who scored six apiece.
Boys
The Kingfisher boys basketball team found itself in unfamiliar territory Tuesday against Blanchard.
Trailing after the first quarter.
The underdog Lions had a surge late in the first quarter and led No. 1 KHS 16-12.
However, Kingfisher allowed just two points in the second quarter and eventually cruised to a 72-40 victory at the APB.
The win was the 35th straight, which is a new record for the program. Kingfisher won 34 in a row from the end of the 2017 season through much of the 2017-2018 season.
After sleepwalking through the first quarter, the Jackets missed just one of 10 shots inside the arc in the second.
Matthew Stone scored six straight points in the middle of the run, all of them off his own steals on the defensive end.
Bijan Cortes had another steal and layup and had four points during the stretch, as did Jarret Birdwell.
That helped put KHS on top 32-18 at halftime and the lead swelled to as many as 34 points in the second half.
Birdwell eventually led the team with 20 points and added six rebounds.
Stone scored 18 to go with a team-high eight rebounds and he chipped in four assists.

The Eagles got 20 points from Angel Rodriguez and limited the Warriors’ pace in a 47-37 home win.
Hennessey, which improved to 5-0 in Three Rivers Conference games, escaped Okarche 51-49 when the two teams met 11 days prior in the conference tournament semifi nals.
The Eagles had to come from behind late in that contest and trailed Okarche 19-17 at halftime of this one.
However, a 14-3 burst in the third quarter swung the momentum the Eagles’ way.
Rodriguez added six rebounds and four assists. The Eagles also got nine points and 10 rebounds from Brysn Hunt.
Hennessey went 10 of 11 from the foul line while Okarche attempted just seven free throws all night, making three.
