Kingfisher’s Myers earns Northwest Oklahoma coach of the year honor
Kingfisher’s Jeff Myers can add another postseason honor to his resume.
Myers was voted the Northwest Oklahoma coach of the year for the 2020 football season.
The award is voted on by area coaches and announced by the Enid News & Eagle each year.
The Yellowjackets were 8-4 during the season and advanced to the Class 3A quarterfinals. They were eliminated there by Holland Hall, which went on to win the state title.
It was Myers’ 17th season at KHS and he’s guided the Jackets to the playoffs each season. He currently has a 170-53 record that includes 40-16 in the playoffs.
Three of his players were named to the 11-man Northwest Oklahoma first team: Seniors Jarret Birdwell, T.J. Parker and Cade Stephenson.
Birdwell and Stephenson were previously named to the OCA All-State football team.
Also voted to the first team was Hennessey’s Kaden Hawk.
