Kingfisher’seighthgrade football team wrapped up its 2019 campaign on a strong note last Monday.
The Jackets beat Cash-ion 42-0 on the road to end their season at 4-4.
On a cold, blustery day, it was the run game that carried KMS to the win.
Kale Hart and Ethan Karcher combined for all six rushing touchdowns.
Karcher got the fi rst one as he raced in from 54 yards out in the fi rst quarter.
KMS took a 7-0 lead into the second quarter, but pushed it to 27-0 by halftime.
Hart played a big role in that with scoring runs of 22 and 41 yards in the quarter.
Karcher added a 52-yard TD before the end of the half.
In the second half, it was Hart who found the end zone two more times with runs of 31 and 35 yards.
“Our entire offensive line was great,” coach Doug Jech said. Isaiah Logan, Diego Munoz, Tanner Parker, Cy Jones, Gatlin Dallas and Noah Blackshaw all played roles in paving the way for the ground game.
Jech also applauded the play of Damien Haynes, who filled in at quarterback for the injured Cade Covalt. Haynes had a two-point pass to Ayden Varnell after Kingfi sher’s fi nal TD.
Eli Johnson was 4 of 5 on extra-point kicks.
Jech said defensive standouts included Jake Reagan, Tyler Pecha, Parker, Munoz, Varnell, Karcher and Dallas.
“It was a fun season,” Jech said. “The kids improved throughout the season and bettered last year’s record.”
The seventh grade was scheduled to play at Okeene Monday, but weather and field conditions forced cancellation of the contest.
