KHS moves to 6-0 in district baseball
Another district sweep is in the bag for the Kingfisher baseball team.
The Jackets beat Purcell 9-0 on Monday at Homier Field, then brought home an 8-3 victory on Tuesday.
KHS is 6-0 in District 4A-1 games thus far.
Brady Friesen worked 5 2/3 solid innings in the series opener to grab his third win of the season.
The senior struck out
10 and gave up three hits before turning it over to his younger brother, Noah Friesen, in the sixth.
The latter didn’t give up a hit or walk and struck out two batters in closing out the game.
Kingfisher got all the offense it needed with a two-run first, including an RBI double by Tate Barton.
KHS tacked on five more runs in the second as Mason Snider, Cade Stephenson and T.J. Parker each delivered RBI singles.
Tate Taylor added a run-scoring single in the fifth.
Parker and Snider joined Taylor in driving in two runs apiece.
Stephenson also scored twice while Barton was the lone Jacket with two hits.
Six different Jackets drove in runs in the series finale.
KHS again had a big second inning to break the game open with five runs.
Taylor and Stephenson had RBI singles while Ian Daugherty’s sacrifice fly made it 6-0.
Parker’s single in the fourth pushed the Jackets to a 7-0 lead.
Daugherty notched the win with four innings of work.
He struck out seven and walked four while giving up two hits.
Parker surrendered the first two runs, but neither was earned, in the fifth. He also struck out two.
Snider threw the final two innings, gave up an earned run off one hit and struck out two.
Kingfisher hosted the Edward Jones Invitational over the weekend and will host Harrah in the first game of a district series Monday.
The Jackets will travel to Harrah on Tuesday.
