KHS JV advances
For the second straight year, the Kingfisher junior varsity boys basketball team has played its way into a tournament semifinal.
The Jackets defeated Texhoma 62-54 Thursday in the opening round of the Ward Center Classic at Selling.
They played top-seeded Cyril on Friday evening... at the same time the varsity boys team played in the semifinal of the Wheat Capital Tournament in Chisholm.
The Jackets bested the Red Devils by heating up for 42 second-half points.
That coincided with Xavier Ridenour and Chase Davis heating up in the third quarter.
After trailing by five at the half, Kingfisher outscored the Devils 20-11 in the frame.
Ridenour and Davis made two 3-pointers apiece in the quarter.
Ridenour scored 10 of his team-high 14 points during that stretch.
Davis added eight of what turned out to be a 13-point performance.
KHS also got 12 points from Noah Schaefer, including a pair of treys in the fourth quarter as the Jackets held off Texhoma.
Kingfisher went 11 of 14 from the foul line in the fourth, including Caden Kitchens making all six of his attempts.
