KHS girls tackle 5K, take 3rd place at Guthrie meet
Cross country runners both boys and girls - got a dose of a 5 kilometer race last Saturday.
KHS took part in the second annual Clay Tarter Memorial Invitational in Guthrie.
The Lady Jackets took third place out of 10 teams with 109 points.
Edmond North nearly recorded a “perfect” score, which is having the top-five placers in a race and scoring 15 points.
The Lady Huskies scored 18 as they placed the first, second, fourth, fifth and sixth runners.
Keeping them from that perfection wasn’t a Kingfi sher athlete, but close to it.
Kinley Taylor of Jones placed third in the race. Taylor was a freshman member of Kingfisher’s team that took fifth at state last year and moved to Jones over the summer.
She ran the 5 kilometers in 19:33.93.
Kingfisher’s top placer was Scout Snodgrass.
Her time of 21:20.99 was good for 13th overall and 12th among runners scoring points for their teams.
JoiningSnodgrassinmedaling were Lily Lunsford, 15th (14th) in 21:30.86; Harper Evans, 18th (17th) in 21.38.60; and Terry Ann McCully, 19th (18th) in 22:15.59.

Guthrie was the meet’s runner-up with 99 points.
Enid was fourth with 111 and Jones fifth with 127.
