KHS freshmen stun Felt in OT
The Kingfisher boys freshman basketball team offered up some dramatics and a mild surprise Thursday in the opening round of the Ward Center Classic in Seiling.
The Jackets erased a nine-point deficit in regulation and then never trailed in overtime to knock off Class B’s Felt and advance to the semifi nals.
Kingfisher played top-seeded Vici in Friday’s semifinal (after press time).

Jud Birdwell gave KHS an early lead in the extra frame and then Ca-den Kitchens’ two free throws gave the team a lead it wouldn’t lose.
Jax Sternberger added a 3-pointer and Mecklenburg went 4 of 6 from the foul line down the stretch as Kingfisher outscored Felt 11-5 in the overtime period.
Mecklenburg led the team with 15 points and four steals.
Sternberger scored 14 on 6 of 9 shooting while Xavier Ridenour added 12 points.
Ridenour and Sternberger were a combined 5 of 10 from 3-point range.
Birdwell finished the game with 11 points and Kitchens scored six.
