The Junior Golf Scoreboard has Maddi Kamas tabbed as the top female golfer in the state and among the best in the nation, according to its rankings.

The comprehensive rankings are for a 365-day span and take into account a number of factors, 65 percent of which is the player’s score compared to par in qualified tournaments.

Kamas’s scoring differential is just 0.38. The second-ranked junior player in the state, Raychel Nelke of Pocola, had the second-best differential at 1.12.

Twenty-five percent of a player’s ranking is based on the strength of the field in the qualified tournaments that are taken into account.

Another 10 percent of the score is based on how a golfer places in those tournaments.

Kamas has played in 17 qualifying events over the past year and has three wins, seven top-fives and three more top-10 finishes.

Qualifying events have included the Oklahoma Junior Golf Tour, American Junior Golf Association and Texas Junior Golf Tour among others.

Kamas is ranked 380th nationally, which includes more than 3,100 golfers.

Kamas just began her junior year at Kingfisher High School.

Her most recent qualifying events for this ranking were a third-place finish at the OJGT’s Kickingbird Fall Challenge (Aug. 17-18) and an eighth-place finish at the AJGA’s Gateway Mortgage Group Tulsa Junior (Aug. 5-8).

She was the Class 4A state runner-up as a sophomore. She won seven consecutive tournaments leading to state.

Kamas helped KHS to a fourth-place finish overall.
