Kamas named top female golfer
Maddi Kamas is still racking up honors for her high school career.
The recent Kingfisher High School graduate on Monday was named the girls golfer of the year during the OKC Metro High School Sports Awards show.
The event, which honors prep athletes in the Oklahoma City area and surrounding counties, was hosted online by The Oklahoman.
Ryan Palmer, a fourtime winner on the PGA Tour, announced Kamas as the winner.
Kamas was one of three finalists for the award as she was joined by junior Brooklyn Benn of Oklahoma Christian School and senior Haley Blevins of Edmond North.
Benn was the Class 3A champ and Blevins the individual champ in 6A.
Kamas won the Class 4A individual championship by 20 strokes.
It was her seventh individual title of the season and she also helped KHS to a runner-up finish in the team standings.
Kamas had a 69.45 stroke average for the year.
She is signed to continue her career at Oklahoma City University.
