Purcell won the team championship, but it was Maddi Kamas crowned the individual champ Wednesday at the Canadian Valley Conference Girls Golf Tournament.

Kamas shot a 78 to beat Purcell’s Jade McCurdy by three strokes at Brent Bruehl Memorial Golf Course, McCurdy’s home course.

It was the sixth straight tournament from which Kamas has brought home medalist honors.

Purcell and Marlow shot matching 363s to sit atop the team standings, but Purcell won in a one-hole playoff.

Pauls Valley shot 376 for third and Newcastle was fourth at 379.

KHS finished fifth in the 10-team field at 382.

Sierra Townsend fired a 93 for the Lady Jackets while Alexis Stitt shot a 102.

Katey Brickman shot 109 and Kari Shepard a 115.

That was the last tournament before the postseason for the Lady Jackets.

Kingfisher hosts a Class 4A regional Tuesday at Kingfisher Golf Course.

Joining KHS will be Bethany, Blanchard, Bridge Creek, Cushing, John Marshall and Pauls Valley.

Chickasha will also be sending an individual golfer.

The top-three teams and teams tied for third will automatically qualify for state.

The top-four medalists, regardless if they’re on a qualifying team or not, will also qualify. After that, the top-three individuals and ties from non-qualifying teams will also move on to state.

State will be played May 1-2 at Lake Hefner South Golf Course in Oklahoma City.
