Highway 33 Classic starts Thursday
The annual Highway 33 Classic softball tournament in Kingfisher will take on a new format this year, but will still crown a champion when its finished.
The three-day tournament begins Thursday and will feature games on both of Kingfisher’s fields throughout.
This year’s event will be a round-robin format after Bridge Creek recently dropped out and left the tournament with seven teams.
Instead of adding a JV team to make two four-team pools, KHS head coach Danny Green said they opted to go the round-robin route.
Once the tournament is complete, the team with the best record will be crowned champion.
If there are identical records, the head-to-head winner will be the champ.
If there are more than two teams with the same record, run differential in the games involving those teams will determine the order.
The next two tie-breakers, in order, are fewest runs allowed in games involving those teams and then total runs allowed overall.
