Hamil’s gold paces KHS at Western Conference

Rylee Hamil won her weight class Monday at the Girls Western Conference Wrestling Tournament in Hinton.

Hamil defeated Bailey Rankin of Cache with a pin at 1:06 to claim gold at 115 pounds.

Her efforts helped Kingfisher to a fourth-place finish in the tournament at Hinton.

Hamil scored 21 of the Lady Jackets’ 58 points.

Harrah won the team title with 166.5. Cache was the runner up with 159 and Hinton third with 86.

Cashion took 11th with 19 points in a field that consisted of 15 teams.

Taygen Otey, Delissa Evans and Eli Pickle all won bronze medals for Kingfisher.

Otey’s came at 120 pounds.

After losing to Trinity Tanner of Harrah in the quarterfinals, Otey got a bye in the first consolation round, then won her final two matches.

That included pinning Amy Lara of Hinton at 2:31 in the third-place match.

Evans (140 pounds) and Pickle (170) had round-robin matches in their respective weight classes.

Evans went 3-2 in her matches while Pickle was 1-2.

For Cashion, Roman Davis was third at 190 while Madison Lawther (100) and Kinzie Livingston (170) each placed fourth.

In the junior high portion of the tournament, Hennessey placed third with 85.5 points.

The Lady Eagles were one spot above Kingfisher, which scored 66.

Cashion was 11th with 25.

Madison Owens (96) and Andrea Cox (200) were gold medalists for Hennessey.

Yaselin Rodriguez (126) and Kaisley Taber (138) each took second while Emily Bryson (110) was third.

Emily Hamil was a gold medalist for Kingfisher’s junior high team as she won all four of her matches at 89 pounds.

Sophie Ellis (89), Brailyn Schroeder (102)and Aislyn Barnett (200) were silver medalists while Sydney Snider (102) and Aubree Torres (126) took fourth in their weight classes.
