Eagles muster split out of trip to Perry
Hennessey jumped out of Three Rivers Conference play on Friday.
That jump delivered a 61-37 victory at Perry, the Eagles’ fourth straight.
Jael Torres scored a game-high 19 points, including 14 in the first half.
He had seven points and Garett Vinson six during the second quarter as the Eagles built an eight-point lead.
After giving up 24 points in the first half, the Eagles allowed just 13 in the second.
Layton Choate contributed 12 points as the Eagles moved to 15-3.
James Sims added nine points and Vinson seven.
Scoring woes hit Lady Eagles early
Hennessey had a tough time scoring and stopping Perry’s Maebry Shields and Makenna Justus.
That combination turned into a 74-34 defeat at Perry on Friday.
Shields and Justus combined for 44 points in the game.
They had 11 in the first quarter as Perry got out to a 16-1 lead.
Hennessey’s offense woke up in the second quarter, but Perry still outscored the Lady Eagles 25-13.
Shields finished with 25 while Justus had 19 for the Lady Maroons.
Hennessey (7-11) was led by Yuridia Rios’ 11 points.
