Different-look wrestling regionals this weekend
Wrestling’s postseason begins this weekend as grapplers vie for their spots in the state tournament.
Regionals will be taking place statewide Friday and Saturday, although the format has been changed from its normal routine.
This year, the seven lightest weight classes will be wrestled on Friday. The seven largest will be held Saturday.
Kingfisher will be taking part in the Class 4A west regional being hosted
Joining KHS and the host school will be Ada, Blanchard, Bristow, Cache, Chickasha, Douglass, Elk City, Harrah, Heritage Hall, Madill, Newcastle, Tecumseh, Tuttle and
Cashion and Hennessey wrestlers will be a part of the 3A east regional hosted by Blackwell.
Also participating there will be Barnsdall, Berryhill, Cascia Hall, Chandler, Daniel Webster, Henryetta, Holland Hall, Hulbert, Inola, Jay, Lincoln Christian, Locust Grove, Metro Christian, Morrison, Newkirk, Oklahoma Christian School, Okmulgee, Pawhuska, Pawnee, Perry, Sperry, Tonkawa, Victory Christian, Vian and Watonga.
The top-five placers in each weight class will advance to the state tournament, which will be Feb. 25-27 at State Fair Arena in Oklahoma City.
