Local runners got an extra glimpse of one of their postseason courses last week.

Teams competed last Saturday in the Oklahoma Bible Academy/Chisholm Cross Country Meet in Enid.

They’ll be returning there this Saturday for regional meets in Classes 2A, 3A and 4A (see story on Page 7).

The Kingfisher High School girls claimed fourth place in their team standings.

Watonga won the meet with 70 points, out-dueling Hooker’s 87. Those teams are ranked No. 2 and No. 1, respectively, in Class 2A.

Weatherford, ranked third in 4A, was third with 104 points.

KHS tallied 130.

The Lady Jackets got a seventh-place finish from junior Zoey Evans, who completed the 3,200 meter course in 12:34.8.

Sophomore Katon Lunsford was just under 11 seconds behind her and was 10th overall.

Ashtin Witt ran 32nd, Ally Scammahorn 57th and Dani Ramirez 58th.

Scammahorn finished in 14:29, a new personal record.

The sophomore had been running that distance in the mid-15’s before breaking through with a 14:30 at the pre-state meet earlier this month.

Issues with the timing system didn’t account for all the KHS boys runners, so no team finish was available.

However, Jon Henry and Jayden Newkirk did run PRs.

Henry was eighth on the 5K course in 17:27.4.

Newkirk was 18th in 18:01.1.

Joel Munoz came close to a PR with his 18:19.3, which placed him 25th.

Diego Olivares finished 108th and shaved three minutes off his best time of the season.

The Jackets were without McCall Sinclair, who was out of town, and Aryan Haro, who was struggling with some knee pain.

“We decided it best to keep him out until the regional,” Lafferty said of Haro.

The Kingfisher Middle School girls won their team title yet again.

That group of Lady Jackets have won every meet in which they’ve competed this season.

Peyton Walker was fourth individually, one spot ahead of Emmy Lunsford.

Raegan Snider took seventh, Mia Hartman 12th, Liberty Starr 14th, Addie Wilson 15th and Ashley Casillas 23rd.

The KMS boys were paced by Coleman Gilles’ 10th place finish.
