Crescent hammers Dibble in 1st round
Rice scores 5 TDs in 46-14 victory
Neither a slow start - nor Dibble - was enough to keep Crescent out of the next round of the playoffs.
The Tigers scored six unanswered touchdowns at home Friday to garner a 46-14 victory in the opening round of the Class A playoffs.
The win moves Crescent (8-1) into the second round as they’ll host Mooreland (5-5) at 7 p.m. Friday.
Dibble scored the game’s first touchdown and held the Tigers scoreless in the first quarter.
But Tanner Rice scored three of his four consecutive touchdowns in the second quarter to lead the Tigers to a 24-8 lead.
Rice had scoring runs of 4, 2 and 5 yards and also had two-point conversion runs after the first two scores.
Rice added his fourth touchdown in the third quarter, a 6-yard scamper.
It was part of a big night for the junior, who ran for 137 yards on 23 carries.
He also had a touchdown reception in the fourth quarter on a 14-yard throw that was Colby Watson’s only pass attempt of the night.
Crescent’s other score was a 23-yard run by Kade Varner in the fourth quarter.
The Tigers ran for 244 total yards and averaged 5.5 per carry.
Their defense limited Dibble to 3.5 yards per attempt and 200 total yards.
Tylan Neugent led the defense with 10 total tackles.
Stone Fisher added seven while Ryan Henley was in on six stops.
This will be Mooreland’s second trip to Crescent this season.
The Bearcats visited the Tigers in Week 0 and were sent home with a 7-0 loss.
Mooreland started the year with three straight losses and was defeated in five of its first seven games. It has since won four straight, including a 64-19 home victory against Mangum in the first round of the playoffs.
