Class A and B basketball playoffs start next week
Basketball playoffs begin next week for the three “small school” basketball teams.
District tournaments in Classes A and B begin Friday, Feb. 11, and will wrap up the next day.
Dover and Lomega are hosting Class B districts.
Okarche is doing the same in Class A.
Only one local team will face elimination with an opening-round game.
The Dover boys will play Oilton at 8 p.m. Friday. The winner advances to the district championship game at the same time Saturday against Fort Cobb-Broxton while the loser’s season is finished.
Both teams that play for a district title will advance to the next week’s regional tournament.
On the girls side at Dover, Oilton and Fort-Cobb Broxton play an elimination game at 6:30 p.m. Friday.
The winner moves into the district final Saturday against host Dover.
At Lomega, Agra and Mulhall-Orlando play opening-round games on Friday.
The winners play Lomega at 6:30 and 8 p.m. Saturday for district titles.
Yale and Drumright will battle in boys and girls elimination games on Friday at Okarche.
The winners get the Warrior squads at 6:30 and 8 p.m. Saturday.
The final A and B rankings were released Jan. 10.
Lomega’s girls were No. 1 in B while Dover was No. 19.
In Class A, the Lady Warriors were ranked third while the Okarche boys are
No. 17.
The final rankings prior to playoff assignments for Classes 2A, 3A and 4A were released Monday.
Locally, the Kingfisher boys were No. 1 in 4A while the KHS girls were No. 6.
In Class 2A, the Cashion boys are ranked third.
