Cashion retires jersey of Brexten Green
The Cashion community came together not just for a rivalry football game Thursday night, but also to honor one of its own. The jersey of the late Brexten Green was retired during a ceremony at halftime of the Wildcats’ home game with Crescent. Cashion head football coach Lynn Shackelford, far right, holds a framed jersey belonging to Green, who was an All-State selection for the Wildcats after they won the 2020 Class A state championship and then went on to play for Emporia State University. He was tragically killed in a cliff diving accident over the summer. Joining Shackelford on the fi eld for the ceremony were, from left: Austin Miller (brother-in-law), Karsyn Miller (sister), Brett Green (father), Masyn Green (sister) and LaMae Green (mother). Members of both the Cashion and Crescent football teams remained on the fi eld for the ceremony. [Photo by Brad Stone/www.bestone.shootproof.com]
